Excited to announce that the first episode of our brand new podcast will be released on Friday, October 6th. As a meditation on the role of public defense in our society, “Defenders United” will explore the lives and work of public defense attorneys across the United States from the perspective of a current law student. In Episode 1, we discuss a multitude of topics with Legal Aid Society trial attorney and CUNY Law clinical professor Bahar Ansari, including the relationship between her work and her identity as an Iranian-American woman, the singular challenges of representing indigent clients in New York City, sexism in court, and advice for both future defenders and prosecutors.
